TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa fire investigators have arrested a man for arson in Ybor City who was previously arrested for crimes against the same business.

Carroll DeMoss, 46, was arrested by 9 a.m. on Friday after investigators say he intentionally set fire to the establishment.

Two Tampa Police officers were on patrol in Ybor City around 2:36 a.m. when they saw smoke from the vacant Ybor Resort & Spa building on E 8th Avenue.

Tampa Fire Rescue responded and extinguished the fire. Tampa PD says that DeMoss was located in the building. TFR determined the cause of the fire to be arson.

After being interviewed, DeMoss was charged with illegally entering the property and setting the fire intentionally.

The damage to the building has been estimated at $3,000.

This is the third time this year someone has intentionally set fire to Ybor Resort & Spa. DeMoss was arrested following a fire at the business in March for criminal mischief. Police did not confirm whether or not they were able to connect him to the fire but did say he was charged for leaving graffiti on the outside of the Ybor Resort and Spa.

The structural damage caused by the fire in March was estimated at $100,000.
