LITHIA, Fla. — A mother and her two children have received an overwhelming amount of support from friends and strangers after they lost everything in a house fire.

The house fire happened Tuesday morning. Kasey Meadows said her dog woke her up.

“My dog started grabbing my hair, pulling me and I was like, you know, stop,” Meadows.

Meadows had not realized a fire sparked inside the home. She was the only one inside the house at the time. She said her father busted open the window.

“I hear my dad outside of the window, (saying) ‘I can’t get her out of the house. I can’t get her out of the house’,” Meadows said.

Meadows said, at that point, she ran out of the house. Firefighters continue to investigate the fire.

“I was thinking, ‘what am I going to do now’, you know. I lost everything. I didn’t even have a pair of shoes on my feet,” Meadows said.

Since the fire, the community has shown her family a tremendous amount of support. People have donated bags and boxes of items for the mother and her two children. People are dropping off some of those items at the Turkey Creek Stables. Meadows helps out the family business.

“I can’t thank people enough for what they’re doing,” Meadows said.

ABC Action News learned part of the proceeds from people renting horses at the Turkey Creek Stables the rest of the month and in December, will go to the family in order to rebuild and purchase items they may need.
