Deputies are searching for a man accused of beating up his grandmother.

James William Mitchell Junior, 54, is believed to have stolen his grandmother's car and may be driving that.

Authorities said people need to be on the lookout for a 2001 Infiniti QX4 sport utility car. It's beige and the Florida tag number is X89 9TT.

Sometime between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, deputies said, Mitchell beat up his grandmother.

"Her ribs are broken. Her nose is broke(n). She's got bleeding inside the brain and outside the brain," Mary Jane Weigand said.

Weigand is Mitchell's mother. She found her mother on the living room floor around 7 a.m.

"He stole my heart right out of me. I don't care now what happens to him and if he comes back here I don't know what will happen. It's not going to be good," Weigand said.

Weigand does not want to see her son again. She said this is not the first time he has beaten up his grandmother.

"She protects him. She was summon(ed) one time to go to victim's of crime and she protected him by saying he didn't do what she had told me that he did," Weigand said.

Weigand blames her son's drug addiction. She said Weigand lives with his grandmother. She said liquor and alcohol are not allowed near the property.

"I don't know what he for sure what he takes, but I know whatever he takes makes him crazy," Weigand said.

Authorities said they plan to charge Mitchell with Aggravated Battery and Grand Theft.
