Tampa PD detectives are looking for a man, they said, attacked a 15-year-old girl, who was on the way to Blake High School.

The incident happened around 7:33 a.m. on Monday. The young girl was walking on Spruce Street West near North Boulevard. Authorities said she saw a man with a knife. According to detectives, the man grabbed her by the backpack and pulled her. The teenager fought back and during the struggle she was stabbed in the hand.

Authorities said she was able to get away after she pepper-sprayed him. We’re told there will be extra patrols in the area because of the incident and since there are two other schools down the street from Blake High School.

Dalia Cedeno, whose child also attends Blake HS, is scared.

“He walks down that road back here so I’m going to tell him not to from now on,” Cedeno said.

She said the principal called this morning to alert parents about the incident.

“Kind of terrifying to hear that,” Cedeno said.

According to detectives, a witness came forward saying she believes she knows who attacked the young girl. As of this report, no arrests have been made.

“To fight back, kudos to her and I’m sure her parents are freaking out, you know. I would be too,” Cedeno said.
