Cardinal Mooney High School in Sarasota was closed Monday while Sarasota PD investigated an alleged concerning Snapchat post shared over the weekend.
The department says it has no reason to believe there is a threat to the school at this time.

The following letter was sent to parents at the school Sunday night:
Dear Cougar Families,
Student safety is our number one priority. Recently, it came to our attention that there is concerning information circulating on social media regarding an alleged threat to the school community. The appropriate authorities are investigating the situation to ensure the safety of our students. Out of an abundance of caution, we are canceling school tomorrow, Monday, February 26, 2018.
The situation will be evaluated and we will provide you updated information tomorrow afternoon regarding school opening procedures for Tuesday, February 27, 2018. We apologize for any inconvenience and short notice. Thank you for your understanding.
