Police search for person setting bushes, signs and trash on fire around St. Pete neighborhood

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — St. Petersburg Police are searching for a person who is setting fires around a South St. Pete neighborhood.

Neighbors posted on social media complaining that the "firebug" ignited the Forrest Bluff Park sign, 10 trash receptacles and bushes. St. Pete Police Department confirms they’ve received multiple complaints of someone starting the fires. They have a fire investigator on the case.

Officers warn while the damage is misdemeanor crime, so far, a bush on fire could end with a home burning down. St. Pete Police say they are taking the investigation seriously and urge anyone with information to give them a call at 727-893-7780.
