PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — One Tampa Bay area nonprofit is not letting the COVID-19 pandemic from fulfilling its mission.

“Never underestimate the power of having someone who believes in you. Pace Center for Girls believes in the potential of young women... So every girl can find her voice.”

Those are the words from a young woman who found her voice thanks to Pace Center for Girls Pinellas. The nonprofit is a prevention program providing academic and social service programs for at-risk teen girls.

Because of the pandemic, Pace Center for Girls Pinellas postponed its annual fundraiser gala this year. The organization was counting on huge donations to keep its programs running.

So what do you do when you can’t bring donors to your party? You bring the party to them!

On Saturday, July 25, Pace Center for Girls Pinellas will host its first ever live, virtual dance-a-thon called, “Dance Party with a Purpose.”

Dancers will collect pledges and dance the day away in the comfort of their own homes for a great cause via Zoom.

"Dance Party with a Purpose" will be streamed live on the Pace Center for Girls Pinellas Facebook page. Board chair Debbie Lieberman is already dusting off her moves.

“I believe every young woman has a right to be given the tools to be their best self," said Lieberman. "I hope you'll join me on July 25th, when I and others attempt to dance the day away during our dance a thon to raise money for Pace.”
