Sledgehammer wielding thief smashes display case, steals watches from Pasco County jewelry store

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — The Pasco County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man caught on surveillance video smashing a display case with a sledgehammer and stealing watches at a local jewelry store.

It happened Sunday evening at about 6:24 p.m.

A man walked into a Helzberg Diamonds store at Tampa Premium Outlet Mall and used a concealed sledgehammer to smash open a glass display case, deputies say.

He stole several Rolex watches and placed them into a plastic bag before leaving the scene.

The suspect is described as a darker black male, about 6 feet tall with an athletic build, PCSO says. He was wearing a navy blue jacket with "True Religion" written on the back. He also had a tan baseball hat and dark colored sweatpants.
