PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — Teens in Pasco County are looking to the community for help.

"We really want to give back to the community in some way. It's nice to have opportunities for young children all the way up to high school to give back to their community," said Kids help Kids Pasco County founder Michelle Patel.

The organization Kids Help Kids Pasco County is holding a prom drive so students who can't afford prom can still go.

The group is looking for donations like dresses, shoes, jewelry and accessories.

The group is also hoping people will donate gift certificates for prom must-haves like nails, hair and makeup.

"There are kids in our community that need help with prom. Prom is a huge financial expense for any family really so we're just looking to give back, take some of that burden off of the families," said Patel.

The prom drive is Saturday, March 14 at Land O' Lakes Heritage Park.

People can make last-minute donations from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Students shop for free from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

"We hope that they feel like they're special. Every kid deserves to feel that special prom experience and not everyone can afford that. So we hope that they feel equal with their peers and that they're able to feel really good about themselves," said Patel.

For anyone who wants to make donations before Saturday, send a message to the group here.
