PASCO COUNTY, FLA — Hundreds of people received free dental services today as part of a long-time effort by a local nonprofit organization.

The nonprofit Dentistry from the Heart has been holding the event for the past 18 years. Dr. Monticciolo of Monticciolo Family & Sedation Dentistry said it is an honor for him to give back in this way.

“It’s very humbling. It’s very gratifying. This is the hardest day of the year that we work, but the most gratifying. My staff has the most fun and they really put in all the work,” Dr. Monticciolo said.

Pasco County residents have become so familiar with the event they camp out at the location for several hours. Judy Berans has attended the free dental day event every year. She is always the first person in line. The location of the event is at 5139 Little Road, New Port Richey.

“You know...always need something done even if it’s just a cleaning. I need to get it done. So this is my way to do it because I can’t afford to do it otherwise,” Berans said.

The event started at 7 a.m. They expect it will last until 5 p.m. and they predict they will serve about 450 residents. Patients can receive work like fillings or cleanings.

“Considering that I don’t have any insurance and this is the only way I can get it taken care of, I’m very grateful that they do this every year ‘cause a lot of people in Pasco County need the help,” Kassandra Lindenmayer said.
