TAMPA, Fla. -- As the Tampa Bay area mourns the loss of David A. Straz Jr., a private funeral service has been set.
The funeral is for family and dear friends on Dec. 1 at 2 p.m.
A public memorial gathering was held to honor the longtime businessman and philanthropist on Nov. 23. It was held outside along the Tampa Riverwalk right next to the Straz Center.
The event was open to the public. An entombment took place at a later date at the Straz Family Mausoleum in Myrtle Hill Memorial Park in Tampa.

Straz died in his sleep during a recent fishing trip at the age of 77. The longtime businessman literally made a name for himself as he donated and financed a local performing arts center, which was later named the David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Performing Arts.
