TAMPA, Fla. — One of the perks of being an NBA player is the number of culinary opportunities available in league cities across the US and Canada.
In normal times, some of the world's best restaurants are welcoming to players who are in town for a game and want to experience a blue-ribbon meal.
However, the rules have changed during the pandemic and the NBA has issued a list of restaurants that players are allowed to eat at while on the road this season.
All the restaurants on the league's list have "agreed to conform to specific rules and regulations," according to ESPN.
- Each restaurant must have an outdoor space or private room that doesn't share air space with the rest of the facility.
- Secure entrances and exits for players.
- Servers must wear face masks.
The NBA worked with the league's players association to come up with an assortment of places to eat.
When teams travel to Tampa to take on the Toronto Raptors, the list of approved restaurants amounts to just these three establishments:
The one thing all the Tampa restaurants green-lighted by the NBA have in common is they are all located near the downtown area, making travel easier and safer.
