Man who pleaded guilty to robbing banks in Florida, Alabama sentenced to 10 years in prison

TAMPA, Fla. --- U.S. District Judge James S. Moody sentenced a serial bank robber to 10 years in prison on Wednesday.

Myron William Ernst, 61, plead guilty to the bank robberies on May 6.

According to court documents, Ernst committed seven bank robberies and two attempted robberies from October-November in 2018. The bank robberies were in Florida and Alabama.

During each incident, Ernst presented employees with a threatening note demanding money.

“This serial bank robber was brought to justice by the strong, investigative efforts of the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force. Crimes like this get solved because of the ongoing cooperation and communication with our federal, state, and local law enforcement partners,” said Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Tampa Division, Michael F. McPherson.

The case was investigated by the FBI.
