Hillsborough Schools looking to build four new schools in Wimauma

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Hillsborough County school leaders are looking to buy properties to build four new schools in Wimauma.

The two properties are both situated south of 674 and east of US 301 in Wimauma. One is located on West Lake Drive and the other is along Bishop Road. Each would have an elementary and middle school, according to Hillsborough County Schools.

Growth at the elementary schools in South County is projected to continue and that's why these schools are so necessary, according to school district leaders.

Attendance boundaries will be brought forward in the future community outreach process.

The next steps include conducting a traffic analysis, looking at busing concerns and routes, principal selection, naming the school and more.
