TAMPA, Fla. — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that left a 23-year-old man dead.
Johnny Hubbert's family says they will remember him for his big smile and an even bigger heart.
“He liked to have a good time, and he loved his family,” said Hubbert’s aunt Asenath Foster.
UPDATE: Suspect in September murder arrested in Hillsborough County
Hubbert was in the process of getting his barber's license and was working a full-time job. Foster said he was picking up his life.
On Sept. 20, detectives said 19-year-old Dontavious Williams shot and killed Hubbert at Coopers Pond Apartments in Tampa.
“It’s devastating,” Foster said. “His mother has been taking it very hard.”
The hardest part for the family, according to Foster, is knowing the alleged killer is still on the loose.
“It’s not fair," she said.
The family is asking the public to come forward if anyone has information about the shooting.
“We need all the help we can get," Foster said.
If anyone has any information on the incident or Williams' whereabouts, you are asked to call HCSO at (813) 247-8200.
