CITRUS COUNTY. Fla. — A Citrus County substitute teacher was arrested Wednesday for engaging in sexual activity with a student and other inappropriate behavior, authorities say.

Angela Stanton, 50, preformed oral sex on one student and sent several nude photos of herself to others on SnapChat, the Citrus County Sheriff's Office Special Victims Unit says.

Detectives say the school board contacted them after a high school principal learned of possible inappropriate behavior.

Stanton was a short term substitute at Citrus County High and heavily involved with the athletics program, authorities say. She would regularly contact student athletes through social media.

In an interview Stanton made comments that backed up specific details the victims gave, according to detectives.

Stanton was arrested and charged with one count of felony lewd and lascivious battery and one count of felony transmitting harmful materials to a minor. Her bond was set at $12,000.

"Stanton was a trusted community member who was heavily involved in activities working with our county's youth. She used her position to prey on the vulnerability of our children," Sheriff Prendergast said. "No parent should ever have to worry about their child being victimized like this; especially from someone they viewed as a mentor. We will continue to work with the Citrus County School Board to determine if there are any additional victims."

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office and the Citrus County School Board are currently working together in determining if there are any additional incidents. If you have any information or believe your child was a victim of Stanton, please contact Special Victims Unit Sergeant Stephen Conley at (352) 249-2718 or email sconley@sheriffcitrus.org.
