LEXINGTON, Ky. — A Lexington couple tied the knot quarantine-style on Monday.

Josh McIntosh and Allie Otis' love story isn't quite a tale as old as time.

"I stalked him on Facebook," Otis said.

"At first, I thought she was crazy," McIntosh said.

Both are originally from Stanton, Kentucky and connected on Facebook when each other's profiles showed up their "people you may know" list.

The pair fell in love, moved in together, and had a son. Two years later, they decided they were ready to take the next step.

"We had mentioned that getting married on Facebook would be fitting because that's where we met," McIntosh said. "And then we thought, wow, we could really invite everyone."

The couple says the coronavirus pandemic actually inspired them to move forward with a Facebook live wedding.

"It seems gloomy at times when we talk to people, and so maybe this way we can bring a bit to other people," McIntosh said. "Happiness in the doom and gloom."

On Monday afternoon, more than 80 friends and family around the country watched the couple say "I do" in their backyard in Lexington.

While an officiant, two witnesses, and their children were the only people physically in attendance, the new Mr. and Mrs. McIntosh say they have never felt more surrounded by love.

"We're taking our families, and we've already put them together, and we live as a family," McIntosh said. "But this kind of just seals the circle for everybody and makes it really real."
