15 people, including 1 in Hillsborough Co., test positive for coronavirus in Fla., DOH confirms

TAMPA, Fla. -- New update from state health officials reveals more than a dozen new cases of coronavirus in Florida.

The Florida Department of Health (DOH) said 15 people tested positive for the virus. One of the 15 patients tested positive in Hillsborough County.

DOH identified the following cases:

  • 73-year-old man tested positive in Palm Beach County. This is a travel-related case and is associated with a Nile River Cruise in Egypt.
  • 74-year-old man tested positive in Palm Beach County. This is a travel-related case and is associated with travel to Europe.
  • 50-year-old New York man tested positive in Sarasota County. It is currently unclear whether this was a travel-related case.
  • 70-year-old Massachusetts man tested positive in Sarasota County. It is currently unclear whether this was a travel-related case.
  • 24-year-old woman tested positive in Alachua County. This is a travel-related case and is associated with travel to Europe.
  • 70-year-old man tested positive in Volusia County. This is a travel-related case and is associated with a Nile River Cruise/Tour in Egypt.
  • 83-year-old man tested positive in Duval County. It is currently unclear whether this was a travel-related case.
  • 57-year-old man tested positive in Clay County. It is currently unclear whether this was a travel-related case.
  • 28-year-old woman tested positive in Broward County. It is currently unclear whether this was a travel-related case.
  • 25-year-old woman tested positive in Broward County. This is a travel-related case.
  • 20-year-old Texas woman tested positive in Broward County. This is a travel-related case and is associated with travel to Europe.
  • 68-year-old woman tested positive in Broward County. This case is associated with Port Everglades.
  • 36-year-old man tested positive in Broward County. This is a travel-related case.
  • 49-year-old Hillsborough County woman. This is a travel-related case and is associated with travel to Europe.
  • 77-year- old man tested positive in Lee County. It is currently unclear whether this was a travel-related case.

DOH says all 15 patients are isolated and will stay isolated "until cleared by public health officials."

As of Tuesday night, Florida's death toll from coronavirus still remains at two. DOH identified the deceased individuals as a patient from Santa Rosa County and a person in their 70s who previously tested positive for coronavirus in Lee County.
