Tampa police have arrested a suspect in an armed robbery related to an online sale started on the app, LetGo.
Giovantae Lucas, 19, was reportedly selling a MacBook laptop using the online seller's app.
Lucas asked the victim to meet him at a vacant home located at 6705 North 15th Street. When the victim arrived, he was met by a male who pointed a gun at him, grabbed him by the arm, and led him to the backyard of the vacant home. A second man armed with a gun approached the victim in the backyard and ordered the victim to the ground. The victim had his cell phone, wallet, watch, watch, shoes, and money stolen.
Police say the suspects placed their guns in the victim's mouth and ear and threatened to kill his family before running north from the property.
Detectives found that the suspect was registered in the app as "Gunther" and had multiple items listed for sale.
Lucas lives less than 1/10 of a mile away from the crime scene. Detectives obtained a search warrant and searched his apartment when he was not home. A Rohm .22 caliber revolver was found in Lucas' bedroom along with a large amount of ammunition, multiple ID's and credit cards in the names of other people. A total of 5 guns were found in the apartment.
Alfonso Ammons was arrested at the scene for being a felon in possession of a firearm and other charges.
During the search, Tampa police officers were responding to a call of a car burglary in progress blocks away. They located Lucas and took him into custody.
Lucas was charged with armed robbery, carrying a concealed firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, battery on a law enforcement officer, auto burglary, grand theft, obstruction, VOP and possession of marijuana.
