Detectives are investigating a suspicious incident where a man approached a 10-year-old boy and offered him candy.
The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday along the 2100 block of 11th Street West in Bradenton.
The grandfather of the child said his grandson was playing on his bike, while he was in the shed when he heard a car pull up. Then he heard a man, speaking with his grandson.
"(He was) having a conversation with my grandkid about 'do you want candy'," Stonewall Murray Junior said.
Stonewall Murray Jr. said the man dropped 4 individually wrapped mints on the ground.
"And then he see me, when he see me, he drops the candy and takes off," Stonewall Murray Junior said.
Detectives released a picture of a car similar to the one the man may be driving. It's an older Ford Taurus Wagon.
"I know the car 'cause it (has) been in my neighborhood before so I was like he's going to come back around here. He's going to come back and I'm going to catch him," Stonewall Murray Junior said.
Stonewall Murray Junior said he warned his neighbors about the suspicious incident.
"I know that when people do things of that nature they…they're preying on that person's weakness," Stonewall Murray Junior said.
If anyone has any information about this case, they need to call the Bradenton Police Department at (941) 932-9300.
