Winn-Dixie changing hours, creating senior-only shopping time

TAMPA, Fla. -- Winn-Dixie's parent company announced on Thursday morning it was modifying store hours and creating time for senior-only shopping.

Southeastern Grocers says from 8 a.m. - 9 a.m., Monday through Friday only seniors and high-risk customers can shop. This applies to all BI-LO, Fresco y Más, Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie stores.

All stores will close nightly at 9 p.m.

"As a grocer and people-first company, we are doing everything in our power during this time of uncertainty to lessen the impact it has on our associates, customers, community members and their loved ones," Anthony Hucker, President and CEO of Southeastern Grocers, said. "When shopping in our stores, please be kind to one another and take a minute to thank our heroic associates for going above and beyond to serve our customers."

SEG also said all pharmacy locations would now open at 8 a.m. on weekdays to provide prescription refills, as well as influenza and pneumonia vaccines.

The company is also donation $250,000 to Feeding America to provide support for those facing food insecurity.
