All Florida universities to keep classes online for entire spring semester, will not hold traditional graduation ceremonies

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Effective immediately, remote classes instruction will continue through the end of the 2020 spring semester at every Florida university.

On Tuesday, the State University System announced that they are taking additional measures to protect the state from COVID-19 spread.

Though not required at this time, state universities should consider using remote instruction for the early summer terms as well. Officials say students who can return home should return home.

Officials say traditional on-campus commencement ceremonies will not be held in May. Instead, each university is directed to develop an alternate schedule or method of delivery.

"The State University System is actively monitoring conditions in the State of Florida as it pertains to COVID-19 and working closely with Governor DeSantis and state officials to take all actions necessary to protect the health and safety of our campus communities," state officials wrote in a statement.
