Instant Pot multicookers sold exclusively at Walmart recalled due to fire hazard

Instant Pot is officially recalling one of their products after multiple reports of the multicooker overheating and melting. 

Double Insight, Inc. distributes the Instant Pot model affected and warns it can create a fire hazard for some customers.

The issue is with the Gem 65 8-in-1 multicooker sold exclusively at Walmart from August 2017 through January 2018 for about $80.

To see if your model is affected, check the batchcode printed on the rating label on the underside of the product. 

The following batchcodes have been recalled: 

  • 1728
  • 1730
  • 1731
  • 1734
  • 1746

If you have an affected model you should immediately stop using the recalled multicooker, unplug the unit and return it to Walmart to receive a free replacement.
