Crews are on scene in Hernando County where a car fell into a hole early Thursday morning.

After a call came in around 3:45 a.m., emergency crews responded to the Brookview Villas Apartments near Barclay Avenue and State Road 50 near Cortez Boulevard in Brooksville. When they arrived, the front end of a Chevy Malibu had fallen in the hole with the rear end raised in the air.

Hernando County Fire and Rescue have told ABC Action News that this is not a sinkhole. There was a 6-inch water main that broke and weakened the roadway.

The break caused a 10x12, six-foot-deep hole in the driveway of one apartment building, damaging a car. The ground is washed out approximately 30-feet beneath the unit.

Crews were able to remove the car from the hole just before 6:30 a.m.

Two apartments were forced to evacuate and a boil water notice for the Brookview Villas is now in effect.

No one was injured.

Officials are on scene to repair the break, fill the hole and determine the structural integrity of the apartment building.
