Strong storms cause damage in South Florida

Strong winds from a cold front caused damage in parts of South Florida Tuesday morning.

WPTV photographer Eric Pasquarelli reported trees blown down near Datura Street and Flagler Drive in West Palm Beach as well as in Providencia Park. He also took pictures of a motorcycle and trash can on their side on Evernia Street and found multiple railroad gates broken at Tamarind Avenue and Banyan Boulevard as well as Tamarind Avenue and Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard.

Several residents sent in photos and video of lightning as the storm pushed through the area.

A woman in Lantana said she heard a loud howling sound and then saw flashes of light before strong winds tossed around property in her backyard.

Farther south WSVN reported that the National Weather Service confirmed two EF-1 tornadoes touched down in South Florida.

And one person was taken to the hospital and several people were rescued from the water after severe weather caused two boats to overturn in Fort Lauderdale Tuesday morning, according toNBC 6 Miami.
