Severe weather alerts have been lifted across the Tampa Bay Area

All severe weather alerts have been lifted across the Tampa Bay Area as of 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A Tornado Watch was issued for most of the Tampa Bay Area until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued Hardee, Highlands, Polk Counties until 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

AIRPORT

The severe weather has caused delays in and out of Tampa International Airport. The FAA had placed a ground stop for all arriving and departing aircraft but it was lifted by 3:45 p.m. So far, TIA has seen 124 delays and 4 cancellations. For a list of cancelations click here.

 

SCHOOL CLOSURES & CANCELATIONS 

Hernando County: Outside events canceled for all schools on Tuesday.

Polk County: All after-school activities and sporting events for Polk County Public Schools have been canceled for Tuesday afternoon.

Sarasota County: All after-school sports and extra-curricular activities and related transportation have been canceled Tuesday. After care will still be provided.

Tampa Bay Rays: Tuesday night's game has been canceled. 

 

HAIL / DAMAGE REPORTED

The National Weather Service says Citrus Springs law enforcement reported hail, half inch size, at 1:26 p.m. Tuesday. Nickel size hail was also reported in Wahoo (Sumter County) at 2:38 p.m.
