The Florida Hospital Connerton is a special needs care facility in Land O' Lakes and early Tuesday, patients had to be evacuated from the building after the generators running the building's power, shut down.
The 42 patients had less than 30 minutes to get help. Of those patients, 12 are on ventilators which had to run on battery power with only 30 minutes left.
Fire crews showed up to help and started loading patients as fast as possible. They got five patients loaded when the fire crews finally got the generators back up and running.
Battalion Chief Gary Policastri of the Pasco County Fire Rescue says "this is a place that other hospital send them to you that can continue to take the care that they have. They definitely can't be in nursing homes or other types of ALS facilities."
