Alert neighbor calls St. Pete police, officers catch suspected looter in the act

ST. PETE, Fla. - St. Petersburg police arrested a burglar stealing from an evacuated home after Hurricane Irma Monday afternoon.

Authorities say a Good Samaritan called police after he saw a man breaking into his neighbor's home near the 7500 block of 15th Street North. The caller told police his neighbors had boarded up the home and evacuated due to Hurricane Irma.

Officers arrested David Christopher Love, 21, at the scene with stolen property. Investigators determined he broke in through backdoor, but was unable to get into the main home.

Love was charged with residential burglary and possession of burglary tools. He also had a warrant out for Violation of probation for a previous unrelated charge.
