It's not always severe thunderstorms and tornadoes that cause widespread damage.

High winds on Wednesday blew across the Upper Midwest, hitting Wisconsin, Michigan and northern Ohio particularly hard.

Most of the wind gusts were near 50 mph, but some wind gusts in Metro Detroit were clocked at 68 mph — strong tropical storm force winds!

There was the expected wind damage — things like trees and branches blown down, dumpsters blown over and widespread power outages.

In Wisconsin, more than a dozen semi trucks blew over because of the high winds.

In Michigan, a jet had to abort its takeoff and it ended up blowing off the runway all together.

The storm system that caused all of this wind has since moved away, and winds have slowed down in the Upper Midwest, giving everyone there a chance to begin picking up the debris the wind storm left behind.
