TAMPA BAY, Fla- — The Buccaneers have won the Super Bowl!
If Super Bowl 55 was supposed to be a quarterback battle, then 43-year-old Tom Brady has had the better of 25-year-old Patrick Mahomes through 30 minutes.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers walked into the locker room with a 21-6 lead over the Kansas City Chiefs. Brady threw for three touchdowns in the half, hitting Rob Gronkowski twice and finding Antonio Brown for a one-yard TD with six seconds left in the second quarter.
Brady misfired on just four passes in the first half as he seeks his record-extending seventh Super Bowl ring. He was 16 of 20 for 140 yards and no interceptions.
Mahomes has been held in check by the Bucs' defense, which has limited him to 100 total yards. Mahomes has scrambled for 33 yards on five carries and was just 9 of 19 for 67 yards through the air.
The Buccaneers have taken advantage of the Chiefs' eight penalties for 95 yards. The flags factored heavily into Tampa Bay's final two touchdowns of the half.
