TAMPA, Fla. (WTXL) — In a video posted to Twitter Friday afternoon, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis offered up what he called a "friendly wager" to the Governor of Missouri ahead of Sunday's Super Bowl LV in Tampa.
DeSantis, who claimed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as his favorite team in the video, said he looks forward to the Bucs and Tom Brady bringing home the win and offered some food as collateral in a wager with Missouri Gov. Mike Parson.
“I’m looking forward to seeing Tom Brady hoist the Lombardi Trophy for the seventh time, and it’ll be a huge win for the community,” said Gov. DeSantis. “But in the event we don’t, you’ll have a couple of really good meals.”
DeSantis claimed that the Bucs will defeat the Chiefs, but added that he will send Gov. Parson a shipment of fresh Florida seafood if his prediction is wrong.
The seafood mentioned on DeSantis' side of the bet comes from Frenchy’s Rockaway Grill on Clearwater Beach, and he featured stone crab claws and the restaurant's grouper sandwiches as part of the deal.
Gov. Parson of Missouri responded back via Twitter about an hour later with his side of the bet and offered a gift regardless of the outcome.
Teresa and I will send you a @BuyMissouri basket either way, but if our @Chiefs are Champions AGAIN, send us back proof you wore the Missouri hat. 🧢 #RunItBack https://t.co/Q1t4G8Zbkf pic.twitter.com/kyYtA8Mhcj— Governor Mike Parson (@GovParsonMO) February 5, 2021
Gov. Parson previously made a prediction on Tuesday, where he said that the Chiefs would beat the Bucs 35-21.
