The Super Bowl LV Host Committee announced plans for the Super Bowl Experience Tuesday, a fan event that helps guests get involved in Super Bowl activities.

For the first time ever, the Super Bowl Experience will be totally free and fully outdoors.

It will span 2.7 miles along the Tampa Riverwalk with Julian B. Lane Park at the heart of the experience.

Fans will be able to meet players, get autographs, a photo with the Lombardi Trophy, and more.

“We feel like our riverwalk is a key differentiator and something that allows fans to experience the Super Bowl in a whole new way," said Rob Higgins, Tampa Bay Sports Commission Executive Director.

But with the COVID-19 crisis still going, league officials say health and safety is their top priority.

“We’ve spent a significant amount of time working with our partners, our chief medical officer Dr. Sills, the CDC, and local and state authorities in putting our plans in place and our protocols in place which are extremely detailed and will evolve," said Peter O’Reilly, NFL Executive Vice President of Club Business and League Events.

The NFL Experience with all its interactive games and exhibits will be centered at Julian B. Lane Park right on the Hillsborough River.

But will cover almost three miles including events at Curtis Hixon Park and Sparkman Warf.

Organizers say with so much uncertainty between now and February, they know they’ll have to be flexible.

“And I understand there are lots of questions around what that flexibility and adaptability mean. We can’t answer that today because we don’t know what six months from now will hold," said O'Reilly.

Dozens have already opted out of playing, and the NFL canceled its pre-season.

As of now, the regular season is scheduled to start on time, some teams saying they will have limited capacity, others will start without any fans.

As for Tampa’s 5th Super Bowl and all the events surrounding it? That is all still up in the air.

Organizers say Tampa hosted past Super Bowls during the Gulf War and the recession, and they are ready for the challenge this year presents.
