TAMPA, Fla. — The Tampa Bay Lightning announced in a tweet on Sunday that they have recalled defenseman Cameron Gaunce from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.

According to the NHL, 29-year-old Gaunce skated in two games with the Lightning during the 2018-2019 regular season. Gaunce made his debut with the Lightning on April 1, when they played the Ottawa Senators.

"The Sudbury, Ontario native also appeared in 59 AHL games with the Crunch this season, recording 10 goals and 46 points to go along with 65 penalty minutes," the NHL said. "He ranks first among all Syracuse defensemen for goals, assists and points. Gaunce ranks tied for seventh among AHL defensemen for points."

This comes as the Lightning trail 2-0 against the the Columbus Blue Jackets. They'll take on the Jackets in Game 3 in Ohio Sunday night, without forward Nikita Kucherov who was suspended for one game for boarding.
