Lightning Captain Steven Stamkos will be sidelined indefinitely with torn cartilage in his right knee.
Stamkos underwent an MRI after arriving back in Tampa this afternoon.
Stamkos was injured in the first period against the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night when he turned awkwardly and fell to the ice.
Lightning GM Steve Yzerman says the team is deciding what repair and rehab procedures would be best.
This is Stamkos second go-around with injuries. He broke his right tibia almost three years ago and suffered a blood clot that sidelined him through most of the playoffs last season.
