The defending Valspar Champion, Charl Schwartzel, will defend his title in pain.

Schwartzel withdrew from Wednesday’s Pro-Am after getting hit in the wrist by an amateur’s shot.

That amateur, David Kerr of Birmingham, AL, struck Schwartzel with his second shot on the first hole.

The ball ricocheted off a tree and hit the Schwartzel in the left wrist.

Schwartzel played for ten more holes before withdrawing due to pain and swelling.

He is still planning on playing in the opening round of the 2017 Valspar Championship Thursday morning.
