HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Thousands of people living in the Tampa Bay area lost their jobs due to businesses closing or reducing staffing because of the pandemic.

Hillsborough County Commissioner Sandy Murman is working with CareerSource Tampa Bay to help some of those out of work find employment during her 9th annual Job Fair from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday, October 8.

This year's fair is being held virtually in keeping with CDC COVID-19 recommendations on large gatherings.

“This Virtual Job Fair offers both employers and job seekers across the county more opportunities and options,” said Commissioner Murman. “With many of our residents out of work and the challenge of face-to-face meetings, this will be another way to connect employers with potential employees safely.”

More than fifty companies in industries like information technology, healthcare, construction, transportation & logistics. retail, manufacturing, hospitality and professional services are participating in the job fair.

The companies are looking to fill more than 1,000 part-time, full-time and remote-work openings.

Job seekers must register to participate in the virtual job fair by visiting www.CareerSourceTB.com/JobFair. You will also have an opportunity to create a profile, upload your resume and add a profile photo.

Once you are registered, you can access the platform prior to the job fair to view details on each employer, current job openings and more.

The job fair can be virtually attended using a desktop or laptop computer, a tablet or a smartphone using Chrome, Safari or Firefox browswers. Interactions with company representatives will be through text-chatting but some employers may have video capability as well.
