RIVERVIEW, Fla. — Leaven Brewing considers itself "Riverview's living room."
Like many small business owners, Jillian and K.J. Lynch were rattled by the pandemic. They worried about the brewery's staff.
"We have 11 families we're responsible for, and we don't want to let them down," says Jillian. "Our bartenders are family, and we all have to be taken care of."
Thankfully, Jillian's mom told her about Hillsborough County's R3 Economic Recovery Financial Assistance for businesses struggling during the pandemic.
The R3 grant disperses up to $40,000 of federal CARES Act relief money to local businesses like Leaven Brewing in order to pay staff, among other essentials.
So far Hillsborough County has paid almost $13 million to more than 860 businesses, with an average payment per business of $15,000.
