Haines City firefighter arrested for domestic violence

HAINES CITY, Fla. — A lieutenant with the Haines City Fire Department was arrested Friday night after deputies say he hit his girlfriend.

Murray Mitchell Harris, 32, was arguing with his girlfriend when he held he against the front door of a home and punched her in the arm, according to deputies.

Harris is facing one count of battery domestic violence, he was booked into the Polk County Jail without incident.

"Hitting someone when you are angry is never acceptable," Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said. "If you feel yourself losing control, remove yourself from the situation before someone gets physically hurt, and you go to jail."
