TAMPA, Fla. — Valentines Day is this weekend and if you’re wary of going out to a crowded restaurant, but still want to do something special, there is a new business in Tampa that’s putting a unique twist on a classic gesture.

Alex Gordon, and her boyfriend Chris, are always on the lookout for a new picturesque picnic spot, with their business, The Perfect Picnic Co., details are everything.

“We really came up with the idea in the middle of COVID, right after everything shut down, we came out to the Riverwalk and had a picnic ourselves and it kind of just spiraled from there,” said Gordon.

Gordon does all the work, from the drinks and charcuterie board of your choice to the blankets, pillows, flowers, basket and music.

“You don’t have to do any thinking, you don’t have to do any planning, just show up, enjoy the picnic for two hours, and you can leave and I’ll clean it up for you,” said Gordon.

On Monday’s particular outing, Mike McPherson was surprising his wife Alyssa Hynes, with an early Valentine's lunch.

“Having this available, it’s something you wouldn’t expect to do every single day, and it's something we’ll remember for a really long time,” said Hynes.

“Especially with like COVID, everything going on, where everybody is worried about being inside and not being around too many people,” said McPherson.

Gordon said the perfect picnic can be as private and socially distanced as you like.

“This is a company where you are outside, you’re not sitting around other people, you can come up and I can easily text you the location of the setup and we don’t have to interact face to face at all,” said Gordon.

While couples may be her prime clients, she caters to anyone looking for that one-of-a-kind experience.

“I can also do brunches, I can do girls nights, I can do up to 10 people,” said Gordon. “If your seven-year-old daughter is having a birthday party and wants to have an Alice in Wonderland themed birthday party I can do that for you.”

Gordon said the most rewarding part for her is brightening up people’s days.

“It's nice to be a part of somebody’s life for a little moment and set up something they are going to remember doing for a long time,” said Gordon.
