A toddler who fell out of a van and onto a busy street in China last Saturday emerged unscathed from the terrifying incident. A car traveling behind the van was able to capture the incident on camera.
The video, posted on China Central Television, shows the trunk of the white van opening and the two-year-old boy rolling out and tumbling onto the middle of the roadway in the city of Suzhou. The toddler’s grandfather, Yang Defu, continued to drive the van, unaware that his grandson had somehow fallen out.
The toddler got up from the ground and started running toward the van. The driver of the car picked up the child and chased down the van, honking repeatedly at Defu to pull over. The toddler can be heard crying in the car.
The driver was finally able to flag down Defu.
"I was waiting at the red light. After passing the intersection a car chased after me and kept sounding the horn. The driver told me a kid fell out of my van. I looked back, parked my van aside, and went back to search my grandson," Defu told the Chinese local news station.
Defu ran over to his grandson once he realized the child fell out of the car. He explained that the trunk of his van was hit the other day and became loose.
