Fortune released their annual list of 100 Best Companies to Work For, a good resource for job seekers.

The magazine company has made the list for 19 years now, and rates companies based on metrics that measures workplace culture and employee investments.

Companies that made the list and have ties to the Tampa Bay Area include the Hyatt and Hilton hotel companies, Whole Foods, The Cheesecake Factory, The Container Store, and Edward Jones.

Publix, which is head-quartered in Lakeland, Florida, came in at #67 on the 2016 list.

"We're very honored to be recognized by Fortune Magazine," says company spokesperson Brian West. "We have more than 1100 stores, but the Store Manager role is just one of the more than 1100 different jobs available at Publix.  We promote from within our company, which helps new associates understand that there are endless opportunities at Publix.  In fact, the vast majority of our workforce has started at the bottom and worked their way up to their current role, including our President, Todd Jones, and CEO, Ed Crenshaw."

Downtown Tampa Hilton Hotel human resources coordinator Tami Smith says a friendly work-place environment is the reason their company is also on the list, in addition to company perks.

"We have incentives like the hotels, we can get Hilton hotels at a discount," says Smiht.

"It's a great company to work for, they take care of their employees very well and they give you a lot of knowledge," says Antonio de Sousa, the hotel's doorman for 30 years running.

"I'm very happy here," says de Sousa. So happy, in fact, he says he's never even looked around for another job.

"We have people come and go but a lot of people stay because its a great company," says de Sousa.
