The suspect of in the murders of a Dover elderly couple appeared in Kentucky court this week.
Michael Herald refused extradition in a Perry County courthouse yesterday. Another hearing will be held next Tuesday. He remains in Perry County Jail.
Herald was arrested by Kentucky State Police the day after John and Nancy Engelhart’s bodies were found in a shed on their Dover property. Nancy was 73 years old and John was 76 years old.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the home for a welfare check. The couple weren’t seen for a few days and mail was started to pile up. Plus, the couple’s car was missing.
Herald was caught after driving the victims’ car in Hazard, KY.
He is charged with two counts of First Degree Murder.
