A Boynton Beach police officer came to the rescue when an alligator was spotted in front of someone's front door.
Officer Alfredo Vargas learned how to handle alligators at the Native Village in Hollywood, FL. and remembered his training.
He called FWC, who said it would be about 30 minutes until the trapper arrived. They told him it was likely the trapper would kill the alligator.
Vargas didn't want that to happen, and given his background and education on how to capture nuisance gators and return them to their natural habitat, he approached the animal to capture it.
After a bit of a struggle, he secured the alligator and put it in the back seat of his patrol car.
The whole thing was caught on body cam video.
He took him out to a canal, removed the tape from its mouth and put it back in the water.
