VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — The National Weather Service in Melbourne says crews are surveying damage in DeLand on Wednesday from a likely tornado.
Video shared online by the Florida Highway Patrol in Orlando on Tuesday shows a box truck flipped on its side from the suspected tornado.
"Video from inside a box truck that overturned, after being in the middle of a possible tornado this afternoon, in Deland," the tweet said. "The driver was taken to the hospital with bumps and bruises. You never know when weather can turn your life upside down."
NWS said it would release preliminary findings later in the day on Wednesday.
The storm in Volusia County caused significant damage. Images and videos shared on social media show flooding, uprooted trees, downed power lines and building damage.
