Did you know you may be living in one of the healthiest counties in Florida? Out of the 67 counties in the state, four Tampa Bay area counties ranked among the top 25.
The annual 2019 County Health Rankings Report, which "illustrates how where we live affects how well and how long we live," looks at several health facts to determine how counties rank, including:
- Health behaviors (tobacco use, diet & exercise, alcohol & drug use, sexual activity)
- Clinical care (access to care, quality of care)
- Social and economic factors (education, employment, income, family & social support, community safety)
- Physical environment (air & water quality, housing & transit).
Based on the above factors, Sarasota ranked sixth, Manatee ranked 19th, Hillsborough ranked 23rd and Pinellas ranked 25th in Florida.
The annual report was released by the County Health Rankings & Roadmaps program, a collaboration between the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.
According to County Health Rankings website, "CHR&R also shows what each of us can do to create healthier places to live, learn, work, and play – for everyone."
