POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A woman who was rollerblading along a path in South Florida on Wednesday afternoon was killed when a speeding car went out of control, crashed into a tree and split in half, authorities said.
Two people inside the car were ejected, Pompano Beach spokeswoman Sandra King told the South Florida SunSentinel.
"This was a horrible, reckless accident that critically injured the people in the car and tragically killed an innocent person out rollerblading," King said.

The crash left the rollerblader unrecognizable to the point that officials couldn't guess her age, the newspaper reported.
King said the woman died at the scene. The male driver and female passenger were taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The car hit the tree sideways and split apart, King said.
Traffic homicide detectives are investigating, the Broward Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
