A south Florida man is accused of brutally murdering his girlfriend Sunday after she said her former husband’s name while they were having sex, according to WPLG.

Fidel Lopez, 24, of Sunrise was arrested after he called 911 to report that his girlfriend, Maria Nemeth, was having difficulty breathing, the station reports. Law enforcement arrived to find her in the bathroom naked next to blood.

Officers found also a closet door ripped down, holes in the dry wall and a shattered sliding glass door.

After telling detectives another story, Lopez eventually told them that they became intoxicated and had sex in the closet, WPLG reports, citing law enforcement. She said her former husband’s name twice and he became angry.

Lopez said he began breaking things, then began to “insert several items into” Nemeth, who was unconscious, the station says, quoting a police report on the incident.

Lopez said he inserted his arm into her vagina and anus “all the way up to his elbow,” the station reports, and ripped out intestinal matter.

In the report, Lopez told detectives that he became a "monster."

Lopez was booked into Broward County Jail, where he’s being held without bond.
