Facebook has activated their Safety Check feature in response to Hurricane Matthew hitting the east coast of Florida.
The feature allows Facebook users to see what friends have marked themselves "safe" during a disaster, shooting or tragic event.
A list of friends who are not marked safe will show up in the feature and allow you to send a notification to those friends who have not checked in yet. Just click "Ask If Safe" next to your friend's name.
