A garbage truck plunged from a I-95 overpass Monday near the Little Havana area of Miami, narrowly missing a building and pool in a 100-foot fall to the ground.

According to WSVN, the driver has been taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

The station reports that the truck was headed south on I-95 about 5 p.m. when it went over a barricade. It landed in the parking lot of José Marti Park.

“Now, luckily -- this park is usually filled with a lot of kids – there was nobody injured on the ground,” Miami Fire Rescue Capt. Ignatius Carroll told WSVN.

Carroll told the station the driver, despite serious injuries, was trying to speak about what happened, a positive sign.
