JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 36-year-old woman was arrested after officials say she stabbed and killed a 6-year-old.
Police said on Wednesday, August 19, officers responded to the area of 1800 New Haven Road in reference to a stabbing.
When officers arrived, they found a 6-year-old victim. She was then transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
Purkanah Mayo, 36, was found at the scene and was transported to a hospital with injuries.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office later found that Mayo was the one who stabbed and killed the 6-year-old.
Mayo was arrested on Friday and was charged with murder.
